June is Scoliosis Awareness Month - And the Colour is Green

Each June, the global health community marks Scoliosis Awareness Month with a simple but powerful symbol: the colour green. This shade stands for hope, health, and harmony - and at Fit2Go Clinics, it also reflects our identity.

Our motto: “Let’s paint the town green” is not just about visual branding. It’s about celebrating wellness. When our Body Screen traffic light system turns green, it means all is well - you’re balanced, fit, and functioning optimally.

So, this June, we invite you to wear green, think green, and feel green - as we explore scoliosis from a physiotherapy viewpoint and help you or your loved ones live stronger and straighter lives.

What is Scoliosis? A Quick Overview

Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves abnormally to the side, often in an "S" or "C" shape. While mild cases can go unnoticed, more significant curves may affect posture, movement, breathing, and confidence.

It can appear at any age but is most commonly diagnosed:

• During adolescence (Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis)

• Due to degenerative changes in older adults• As part of neuromuscular or congenital conditions

What Are the Signs of Scoliosis?

A trained physiotherapist at Fit2Go can help you spot these common signs:

• Uneven shoulders or hips

• One shoulder blade more prominent than the other

• Head not centred over the pelvis

• Difficulty standing straight

• Ribs sticking out more on one side (rib hump)

• Lower back discomfort or stiffness

• Clothes fitting unevenly

Why Physiotherapy Matters

At Fit2Go, our evidence-based physiotherapy goes beyond treating pain - we help clients:

• Understand how their spine moves

• Strengthen the right muscles

• Improve posture and balance

• Reduce mechanical strain

• Prevent curve progression

• Stay active and confident

We don’t just work around the curve — we work with the body as a whole, ensuring every plan is tailored to the individual.

How We Assess You at Fit2Go

We begin with a detailed clinical evaluation, posture review, and spinal screening. Then, we use our innovative:

This motion-based check-up uses a traffic light system — red means

concern, amber signals caution, and green means all is well. It’s a

fantastic way to track your movement health, especially during growth or

high activity.

⚠ Note: Body Screen is not a diagnostic tool for scoliosis, but it helps us monitor and maintain spinal health, detect risk patterns, and personalise care.

✅ RTT (Real-Time Tracking)

We analyse how your body moves in real-time — tracking gait, spinal

symmetry and muscular balance — essential for scoliosis management.

What Can You Expect from Physiotherapy for Scoliosis?

Every Fit2Go programme is customised, but here’s a common structure:

• Postural education

• Core strengthening and trunk stabilisation

• Breathing techniques for thoracic expansion

• Manual therapy and TECAR therapy for soft tissue work

• Shockwave therapy for associated muscular tightness

• Stretch & Strength classes with a scoliosis-aware approach

Supporting the Whole Person

Whether you’re 14 or 64, living with scoliosis can affect self-image, mental health, and confidence. Our approach is holistic - blending physical recovery with emotional support.

We want you to feel balanced, supported and empowered - and to see green lights every step of the way.

Let’s Paint the Town Green

This June, celebrate Scoliosis Awareness Month with Fit2Go. Book a screening. Learn about your spine. Or simply wear green to show support.

Because when we say “Let’s paint the town green,” we mean it. Green is strength. Green is balance. Green is wellness. Let us help you get there.
