If you have severe Osteoarthritis then pain commonly comes from bony change in the joint and bone on bone contact as result of the Osteroarthritis being so progressed. In the past treatment options were limited other than a total knee replacement giving an astounding 20% dissatisfaction rate. However now using Arthrosamid we can inject a hydrogel into the joint to give a cushioning barrier between the bones so you can get on with life's day to day activities. Evidence suggests between 3-5 years of pain relief from just one injection. All injections are done using ultrasound guidance for improved accuracy. Payment plans are available on request.

What is Arthrosamid?

Arthrosamid is an innovative and novel type of injection treatment used to treat knee arthritis.  Arthrosamid acts within the knee to help cushion the joint, reduce pain and decrease stiffness to improve knee function.

It integrates with the knee joint lining (synovium) to improve lubrication and protect the joint.

Arthrosamid is a non-biodegradable hydrogel injection consisting of 97.5% water with a 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide backbone and has been used for a variety of medical indications over the last 20 years.

What is the Treatment Process?

Arthrosamid is administered through a single injection into the knee’s intra-articular cavity by our qualified specialist. Prior to the injection, a local anaesthetic is given to numb the area around the knee, which may cause a slight stinging sensation. Unlike surgery, the injection is a minimally invasive procedure that can be done on an outpatient basis. Before the injection, antibiotics are provided to prevent any potential infection risk.
Arthrosamid is an intra-articular polyacrylamide hydrogel injection used for the symptomatic treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Upon injection into the inner joint cavity, it restores the thickness of the synovial fluid, enhancing joint lubrication and cushioning. Furthermore, Arthrosamid integrates into the synovium of the inner joint capsule, producing a cushioning effect

What are the benefits of Arthrosamid?

Arthrosamid acts to cushion the joint, resulting in a reduction in pain, stiffness, and improved movement. The hydrogel is non-degradable, providing long-lasting relief, which can enhance your quality of life. According to clinical trials, patients experienced a considerable reduction in pain symptoms by the fourth week after their injection. Unlike other injectable treatments, this reduction was sustained at the two-year follow-up period.

What are the side effects of Arthrosamid?

Several clinical trials of Arthrosamid have not reported any severe hydrogel-related side effects. Mild to moderate injection site pain and swelling were the most frequently reported side effects, which were typically short-lived. The hydrogel’s safety profile has been established over the past two decades, as it has been used for various indications in the body.
